A little introduction

My name is Luke Dawson and currently I'm learning at Herriot Watt University to earn my masters degree in Robotics & Cybertronics. This blog will be about several things related to my course.

First and foremost is that I will be entering my 4th year of study and as so I have my fourth year project to do this coming year. I have organised with my mentor to use this year to study the effect of the Gaussian magnet effect and the conceivability of a Gaussian actuator. Some people may be familiar to the effect already but for those who are not: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7CyPtF0Ch.
You may also know the effect as a Gaussian accelerator and is most commonly known to be used as a projectile accelerator known as the Gaussian rifle.

Since my project will take quite some time I hope to post my findings and other related subject matter to this blog for others to learn discuss and comment on my progress. I have quite a few ideas for how to test this effect and can't wait to get started.

The other purpose of this blog is too post interesting developments in the robotics field for those that are interested.

I can't wait too get properly started on my project and I hope you find it as exciting as I do.
